Each panel has a particular way to reset it and it involves removing the PCB mounted battery from the CMOS memory.Chances are if the engineer code has been changed the panel has also been engineer locked. This may not be a big job and of course will be cheaper than a call out. Aritech panels can always be defaulted back to factory settings (which will mean 1278 works) but this of course means reprogramming all the zones again.
I've disconnected both internal and external bells and bought a new internal bell to check if this was the fault but the same thing is happening - fuse blowing. If I arm the system and then open one of the zones, insteabd of the inernal or external bells sounding, either the F2 or F3 fuser blows.
